I have this hugh cookbook with dutch recipes. When I moved to Holland I’ve decided to cook dutch and learn everything about their kitchen. It didn’t work out, I’m in love with food from all over the world, so I need to mix it.
This recipe I found on Honest Fare blog, and apparently this baby is dutch. They eat it with lemon and sugar (yummy), fruits or savory.
Anyway I have this New Year’s resolution to get up early. The magical our is 6am and man, world is amazing at this time. Naturally it’s still dark (till almost 8:30 hello winter), but I have all the silence of the world. T. is still sleeping, and I can explore the internet, read, search for the music and so on and so on…
You will need:
- 1 egg (in room temperature)
- 1/4 cup milk (in room temperature)
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 175ºC and place there a small baking plate. Whisk egg to make it nice and fluffy (couple of minutes), then put it aside for 5 minutes. Add flour, milk, salt and vanilla, mix the mixture for one more minute.
Take out the baking plate, put the butter inside, let it melt, then pour in the egg mix and immediately place back in oven. Bake for 7-10 minutes (until nicely golden).
When the dough is ready, top it with yellow cheese, sautéed mushrooms, baked tomatoes and rucola.
