Yesterday we had such a strong storm over here, that rain created a wall of a water and the lightnings created something like a huge lamp on the sky. I haven’t seen anything like this for a long time. All of that took place at 3 am and I am extremely glad I came back home early yesterday, I would probably have drawned otherwise. Such are the charms of summer, once sun, once rain. There are also bad news - the strawberry season is almost over. I add them to almost everything and it will be heartbreaking to say goodbye. So as long as I can buy them, I’ll eat them by kilograms.

I know that there’s a season for strawberries and you’ve already seen like 100s of recipes. But check out this one. I’ve found it on this My New Roots blog and I felt in love with it. I love stravberries but usually have them with sugar. This one are spicy, so spicy and delicious. I ate them with my morning poridge, and then finished it with a spoon. I ate everything I made. It was that good.

Do you know the movie “La Boum” with Sophie Marceau? I’ve seen it the first time like 20 years ago and I still love it. I remember a sene in a second part, where Sophie Marceau was sitting in a train with her grandmother, eating a croissant and drinking coffee. That was when I’ve discovered my favorite breakfast - coffee and the croissant. Years passed, taste changed, but not this. I still love it and had it like hundrets of times on my way to work. Actually it makes me feel great about a morning, so whenever I feel a little bit down, this is what I should eat.

I have this periods in my life when I decide to be super extra healthy, stop eating sugar (I love you!) and to concentrate on a good stuff. I know I should do it all the time, but life is not perfect and nor am I :) That’s why my today breakfast was all about a carrot juice. In a past I used to be kind of addicted to it, than I had a lond break (no juice squeezer around) and now the time for a come back came. Obviously I’ve started to read how healthy and beautiful I’ll become after dinking it. And apparently I will! Not to go into too many details:

Birds are singing, sun is shining and my suitcase is finally unpacked. I’m staying in a temporary apartment (OMG it’s so beautiful), so all my pots, bowls, plates, and even a cutlery is packed in boxes that create a tower around 15 km away from me. This state doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve already discovered small stores with amazing kitchen stuff, and it’s a great occasion to do some shopping ;) But for now my main task is to relax. The past weeks were full of packing, unpacking, goodbyes, hellos, organizing, and all the rest. So now the time for a proper rest came.

The contents of my kitchen is buried in boxes, matting, carefully described and I’m not going to unpack it, unless it’s in Berlin ( it took me three days to hide the apartment into boxes). The only things left were blender, a plate and a knife. We had to eat something, so Ive started to think about something easy and fun, and I reminded myself about a recipe for pesto from Agata’s blog, which does not require too many dishes and equipments. Anne, who helped us to sort clothes, mostly by laughing at them (so far I had no heart to get rid of my jacket purchased 3 years ago in China or shirt from Bolivia), accepted we’ve started the preparations. Ok, it sounds like a big cooking. The whole truth is that one was standing in front of the blender, and the other was watching the first one.

Milch Halle Berlin

I’ve spent last week in Berlin, running around the city and looking for an apartment. It was accompanied by a perfect, sunny weather and some great people. In the end I have no idea how, but I’ve reached my goal.

I went for a visit to my mum’s house for a couple of days. We live in different countries, so we don’t hung out often unfortunately. But it was fun. I’ve found my old cooking books and we just had to cook something together. The easiest and fastest recipe was the one by Bill Granger from a book “Bill’s Food”.

The last weeks were crazy for me. Everything because after two years in Amsterdam, we’ve decided to say good bye. We’ll be moving to Berlin and I can’t wait, as I love this city. But still, I feel so sad to leave Amsterdam…

Days go by too fast. I’ve been in polish mountains for a while now and I slowly start to feel here like at home. I have a bench in front of my house, that i covered with a green blanket and a lady from a store next by gave me an old wooden box. I use it as a table. Each morning I get up quite early, I sit in front of my house and watch the Tatra mountains with a cup of coffee in my hands. And my life could look like this forever. All by myself.
