If you live in Berlin, walk around Mitte from time to time and don’t know this place, there’s a chance, that you passed Mogg & Melzer a couple of times. I did, and I knew where I was going. It is located in an old Jewish Girls’ School and hidden behind a big wooden door. When you get inside turn right and you’ll find it. Restaurant is a room with a minimalistic interior, where they serve the best pastrami in town. Wooden tables, chairs and benches, violet pillow from time to time and an open kitchen makes the place look good.
Coffee choice is simple - cappuccino or americana. I asked about the coffee grains because when I drink it black, I like it good. Waitress didn’t know much about it, the only think she could say was “Of course it’s good” (her face expression was priceless) and then she added that if I really want to know she can check. Well, I am a trustful person, I took it and, I must admit, I loved it. It was strong and satisfying.
We knew what we came for - Reuben and Pulled pork sandwich - and it was a good choice. This sandwiches are amazing. They import meat from States, but prepare it in Berlin. Everything is homemade. Just look on pictures and imagine me and Tomasz eating with a big pleasure. We did not talk much, the only sentences exchanged was a question “Is your sandwich as good as mine?” and after tasting the other one - “OMG it’s amazing”. We had a small argument as we could not decide which one was better. Well, as it’s my blog I have a final saying - Reuben sandwich is the most awesome one (I love you Tomasz).
Most probably it’s not the cheapest sandwich place in Berlin. It is tasty and mind blowing. But is it worth the price? Of course it is! If you’re a meat lover, this is a place for you.
