Sometimes simple solutions are the best ones. I baked a big loaf of bread again and, well, we eat it. I experiment with sandwiches, try it warm and cold. But whenever I can’t figure out what I feel like, I put avocado on a slice of bread, add tomato and a goat cheese and enjoy it while thinking. Do you like this combination of flavours? It is delicious and refreshing, especially when you add a bit of mint (always a good idea!).
I fell in love with avocado few years ago in Sydney. My friend used to repeat that it’s a natural butter and he was caring it around in his backpack. It was also very easy to find a treat with it in Sydney’s cafes. This year I had an amazing sandwich in The Grounds of Alexandria and I’m still dreaming about it from time to time. That’s why I’ve been trying to recreate it. Homemade sourdough bread - checked, organic tomato and avocado - checked, goat cheese from a farmer - checked, mint from my little windowsill garden - checked. It couldn’t go wrong.
You will need for 1:
- 1 avocado
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp chopped mint
- small pinch of chill flakes
- 1 tomato
- goat cheese
- salt and pepper
In a small bowl smash avocado, add lemon juice, chopped mint, chill flakes and mix it. Toast a slice of bread and spread avocado mix on it. Add slices of tomato, sprinkle with goat cheese. Season with salt and pepper. You can add fried egg if you like, it goes pretty well with avocado.

It is a very special sandwich and I am afraid it’s not for everyone. I saw a picture of a mix of chocolate and bacon on Pinterest and obviously I wanted to try it. This time I didn’t use Nutella, as Tomasz has already taken care of a jar. This boy has a thing for a chocolate spread and he can’t sleep as long as there’s a jar of it in our apartment. As I am having a period of chocolate cravings, well… I’m acting on it.
We’ve organised a night of baking Tartine bread with Tomasz, so in the morning we had a delicious big loaf. Yummy! To mix it with salty bacon, delicious and rich in flavour dark chocolate, figs and blue cheese - perfection in a world of a pregnant woman. I hope you’ll love it as much as I did!
You will need:
- 2 slices of bread
- dark chocolate (like 70%), shredded in small pieces
- fried bacon
- blue cheese
Heat up a frying pan and melt a bit of a butter on it (like 1 tbsp), place two slices of bread and toast it on both sides. On one of them put chopped chocolate, so it will melt a bit, cover with fried bacon (still hot), add sliced fig and spread blue cheese over it. Cover with another slice and enjoy! The chocolate may end on your hands, but this is a price to pay for a hot chocolate sandwich ;)

I want to call this sandwich a super sandwich. It’s hot, delicious and contains a melting cheese. I made it three times this week and it’s only Wednesday and I want more. Tomasz wants more as well. Total luck of control. Big thanks to Allyson for posting this recipe. We loooooove it. And if you like easy, fast and delicious recipes, this one is for you!
You will need:
- two slices of bread
- 2 tsp pesto
- two slices of mozzarella cheese
- 2 slices of tomato
Spread a bit of butter on each side of each slice, then pesto on one slice (just one side that will be inside of a sandwich), cover it with mozzarella and tomato slices, spread pesto on a top slice and cover the sandwich with it. Heat a pan and fry on each side until golden brown. I covered my pan with a lid so the cheese will melt.

I am a bad bad girl, as I eat so many delicious things that soon my running and exercising will not be enough. I blame Sydney. My friend told me that Sydney is a capital of breakfasts and he was right. There’s so many great places and so much of delicious food, that it’s difficult to control myself. There is one meal I need to mention, easy and obvious, but we have a tendency to forget about recipes like this one. I am talking about a bacon and egg sandwich.

BLT is a very simple sandwich but it will rock your day. I used to believe that the best one you can get in San Francisco’s Devil’s Teeth Baking Company. But then I made this one at home out of ingredients I got on one of Barcelona’s farmer market.

Sometimes there’s just not enough time in the morning. Sometimes alarm clock forgets to ring, cats are too heavy and they’re sleeping on your quilt so you’re stuck for a while under it and then you have only 15 minutes to take a shower and run to work. Pan con tomate is a spanish breakfast for one of this days. It is almost too easy to mention about, but we have a tendency to keep forgetting about simple things, so this is a small reminder :)

Love comes with a price, in a situation I will describe literally with price. I adopted a street cat in Barcelona - sweet little Lola. Ryszard (our little treasure) fell in love with her and accepted her straight away, she was the one fizzing around for first few days. After a month we are a happy family of four. But, as a responsible owner I had to check if she’s healthy, give her some medicines, vaccinations and make a passport, as little Lola will be flying to Berlin with us in few months. And O MAMA, it’s so expensive. I feel like adopting a fancy cat, as I spent a small fortune on her. I love her already, Ryszard has companion to his night runs, Mr. T. carries her around and they share secrets. And when we all go to bed and she sleeps next to me, I know it was all worth it. Then Lola and Ryszard wake me ten times during a night and I have doubts. Is it an introduction to motherhood?

Moving is exciting, isn’t it? New places, new people, new possibilities. But then the day comes when you wish to bake something delicious, your oven does not contain a baking tray and you start to miss home. You organize it somehow and life is beautiful again.

I made some delicious and sweet things for breakfast. Some of them were time consuming and cost me a lot of effort. One of these things were french toasts. You know why? Because I made my own brioche. Sounds easy? Not really as I did not have a mixer and I had to mix dough with my own hands. It took me three attempts to finally made one that grew properly.

I had to make my taxes in 3 countries this year, don’t ask me why/how/WTF, I can’t even say a word “taxes” anymore. I just hope that it’s all good. This forbidden word equals stress in my case. When I stress out, I eat sweets, but not any sweets, I eat super extra good sweets.
