I’ve been passing this place far too many times. The big advantage of Neukoln neighbourhood is that you can enjoy an enormous amount of lovely cafes. With time, when you get to learn your favourite ones, it may become also a disadvantage, as it’s too easy to miss a lovely spot.
Tischendorf is definitely worth checking out. When I entered the place the first thing I’ve heard was Talking Heads’ song and it made a great first impression. And then the interior. It may look like a typical Berlin style cafe, but has this little lovely elements like handmade plackets with informations about products. Raw wall surrounded by other white ones make the trick. Wooden tables and chairs, old school counter with yummy treats and nice art on walls. Everything creates a good, friendly vibe.
I ordered a breakfast special and what I got made me almost cry out of happiness (hormones!). My taste buds went wild and I’ve achieved a moment of a “happy after meal meditation”, when life looks just like it should (full of rainbows and unicorns). I wasn’t happy with my coffee, but I like it in a specific way and since I can have only one per day, it’s important that this one particular cup rocks my day. But the food, oh… you want it!
The only tiny thing that didn’t fit was a lady who served me, definitely she wasn’t in a mood. She had this “smiling is just wrong” and “I don’t associate with customers” attitude. Well, I’m not judging here, it happens and everyone has a right to have a worse day. And this is a hormonal pregnant lady speaking. When I have a bad day I have this strange feeling that Tomasz and cats magically disappear and I can’t find them anywhere. If I didn’t know better I’d say that they’re avoiding me. The whole “lady not in a mood” thing definitely didn’t ruin the impression, as the cooking lady who served my plate was the sweetest. I think she knew how awesome the food was.
Tischendorf, Friedeistrasse 25, Neukölln
Open daily 9am - 8pm.

When someone tells you that you need to check out one place, you do it. Especially when this tip comes from Michael who has an exquisite taste in Berlin cafes and restaurants. What you can find in Hermann Eicke are yummy bagels with interesting extras, super friendly owners, killer homemade lemonade and a cold chocolate that will blow your mind. I am not kidding - it was served with a cream and a ball of ice cream. I also enjoyed their bircher muesli, very fulfilling and you can taste apples inside.
I must admit that I’m in love with the interior - plenty of space, minimalistic, yet inviting. I went there few times just for a bite, but the last one was to make some work. It’s easy to concentrate there with relaxing atmosphere, nice tunes and refreshing coffee.
It’s located in Mitte, so if you’re a Berliner, discover this place and if you came over for a visit, have a break over there. And definitely try the cold chocolate drink!
Hermann Eicke - Brunnenstraße 45, Berlin - Mitte

I’ve been introduced to Cafe Valentin by Jessica from Best Wishes Magazine. We were planning on catching up after my longer absence and she simply said that I’ll love this place. Well, I do.
This Swedish cafe has it’s charm. Interesting interior with wooden elements, vintage tables and lovely little details. Food is delicious and their sandwiches look like an explosion of summer on a plate. For sure they have few unique positions like fruit iced tea including fruits and herbs or Swedish cakes. I’ve tried their cinnamon rolls twice and each time it was awesome. But the most important element is of course a friendly service. They’ll welcome you with a smile and a good word. You can stay as long as you feel like with a book, computer or over a coffee and you’ll feel relaxed and welcomed.

I made a decision to reduce an amount of caffeine in my blood so I’m drinking 1 cup of coffee per day. It makes this particular one very important and believe me it’s worth traveling from Friedrichshain to Kreuzberg to have it at Concierge Coffee.

Roamers is a beautiful place with sweet owners, good food, amazing atmosphere and friendly service. If you can fell in love with a place, it happened when I went for a coffee to Roamers for the first time. I am not sure what was the reason - minimalistic yet cosy interior, which’s been created by owners who pay attention to details, a killer coffee which is so good that so far each time I had two, homemade and fresh cakes, or honestly good food.

I have a thing for cute little places with a friendly service. But imagine this. You go inside a little cafe without expecting anything (we walked there from Friedrichshain, took some pictures in a Photobooth and were still very excited about our creativity), and walk into one of the most surprising interiors you’ve seen lately. Salumeria Lamuri is amazing. There are beautiful tiles with three different patterns that were meant to be together, cosy little tables, beautiful counter and a big window you can admire Berlin from.

Dolc i Salat is a small place with a big atmosphere. They serve italian sweets, sandwiches for breakfast and some other snacks. I tried cannoli and it was delicious, not too sweet, just perfect. I went there three days in a row and a friend said that I am truly dedicated to testing the place, but the true is, that I simply like it.

Cosmo is two in one - Cafe and Art Gallery. Specious and nicely designed interior plus interesting exhibitions are worth a visit. You can expect wooden tables, comfy chairs and even a big sofa, just like in Central Perk from “Friends”.

I didn’t know if I should make a post about it or not. Café Bombón is so easy to prepare that it doesn’t need a recipe. But also, I love coffee and I had to come to Spain to discover it. If there’s anyone who likes sweet coffee, this is a recipe for you. It is supposed to be exactly in 1/2 strong coffee shot and 1/2 condensed sweet milk proportions, but if it’s too much sweetness for you, just add less milk.

I have a small dilemma related to Granja Petitbo. I’ve been there twice. The first time I loved the atmosphere. It’s a cozy and quite specious place with an old school vibe. I ordered eggs on toast, coffee and a freshly squeezed juice and everything was delicious. I enjoyed lovely service, had a small chat with a waitress and spent good time over there with my book. You may say the best impression that a place could give.
