I have a thing for Thai food. Ok, to be honest, I have a thing for Pad Thai Noodles. You may even call it a small obsession. It’s started with a first bite in Big Boy Thai in Sydney in 2007 and through the years it got worse. Whenever I am in a Thai restaurant, I need to eat it.

I’m back in Berlin, cold Berlin. It was snowing today, even though it’s Spring. But before I got here I did not sleep for 24h trying to avoid a jetlag (it did not help) and got stuck on the airport in Amsterdam.

I love cafes that make  me feel good. This is what I need in the morning. Especially when I start a day before a sunrise to see a Golden Gate Bridge and it turns out that I can see nothing, mist was on my way. It did not make me feel bad, I even took some pictures. It made me hungry and in need of a coffee.

We’ve been wandering around Friedrichshain, looking for a nice place to do the one thing that Sunday was created for - to relax, and we found Aunt Benny - a small, cosy cafe with good coffee and nice vibe. At 12.30 pm it was full of people, but we managed to find two spots on a window shelf covered with cushions.

Bullys Bakery is just around the corner, but my path led around Neukoln so unfortunately, that I was blind for two months. There’s a great ice cream place just next to it and I had a cone over there too many times to admit, but I have not seen this place. Finally  T.  suggested that we should go for a coffee one day. You don’t have to repeat this kind of ideas to me and the next morning we were sitting in Bullys Bakery.

I’m already back in Berlin, after two memorable weddings, being a fake tourist in Amsterdam, being a fake tourist in London and eating a lot. Obviously holiday doesn’t mean that I’ve avoided cooking, but thanks to that, I can present you today a recipe for an Austrian omelette. It is sweet, contains raisins, a bit of sugar and is served with fruits - it’s fast, efficient and delicious. This time I had two helpers - Tomasz, who actually did something, and Kevin, who contributed a conversation. And if you ever had a problem with choosing a movie, you should definitely visit Kevin’s website: What movie should I watch tonight. What movie should I watch tonight. We like to mix a bit, so we did make some fried bacon, it went great with a sweet omelette.

Over the past few days, I’ve been playing in a game called “I’m a tourist in Amsterdam”, the city, where I’ve lived for a longer time and moved out from one month ago. When I stood my shoe on a Centraal Station, my heart beat stronger and I felt extremely happy, like I’m back home. A big surprise was a temperature over 20 degrees and the sun (not that common in this city, so most of people most probably felt like giving up their jobs and going to a park). I was walking around streets so familiar to me and eventually I stopped for a cup of coffee in my favorite place. Well, in every city there are places where coffee tastes great and an atmosphere encourages a longer stay. I’ve found some nice spots in Berlin, but am still searching for a perfect one. In Amsterdam I was lucky enough to find it. The place is called Two for joy. It’s located on a Haarlemmerdijk 182 and they serve a brilliant coffee over there.

Milch Halle Berlin

I’ve spent last week in Berlin, running around the city and looking for an apartment. It was accompanied by a perfect, sunny weather and some great people. In the end I have no idea how, but I’ve reached my goal.
