Acai Bowl of Goodness

This is a bowl of goodness.

I woke up in a morning after sleeping 16h straight and I’ve realised that I missed Australia. We’re back, after an amazing month in my most favourite country all over the word.

This trip was very special for me. The first reason was an amazing workshop I had a pleasure to organise together with Luisa Brimble, Local is Lovely and Simone, about which I’ll write in another post. The second reason – I’ve been traveling with Mia, just us girls, no papa around. We flew together on 3 flights (1h + 6h + 14h) and she was just the best. We went through jet lag together (she kept waking me up at midnight with this sweet expression on her face – it’s fun time!) and all the walking barefoot, beach sand, eating, babycino (foamed milk) and so on and so on. The best trip ever! I’m definitely writing a post about traveling with a small kid as well 🙂

The most amazing thing – I was tired like crazy, but I fell in love with my kid even more. Yes, it is possible. Imagine sleeping 2h per night and refusing to sleep during a day because you’re in Sydney and you want to explore (Mia didn’t mind sleeping). She’s so friendly, happy, not problematic (apart from times when she really want’s her babycino and she can’t wait to get it), peaceful. And she loves dogs like crazy, and birds! We have two cats so it may create a bit of a problem in the future, but let’s leave it until then. She loves them so much, that whenever she saw one she was screaming like crazy out of happiness (which means each 5-10 minutes). She also loves people and she’s definitely in love in each Asian looking person. I am not sure where it came from, but whenever we passed anyone with Asian roots, she kept smiling and waving her hands. She also loves older citizens – she simply grabs someones hand and wants to go away with them or she’s trying to climb on their lap. She felt so free and relaxed that I wanted to stay in Australia forever.

But there’s also another amazing part I love – the Australian breakfast culture, which is freaking big! You can eat breakfast all day long. They take it very seriously and they know how to rock your morning. I used to get up around 6-6:30 am, take Mia for a stroll and on a way I got my coffee (wherever I got it, it was delicious) and babycino for my little one. We were looking at sunrise, walking along crazy busy Bondi at this time and I was taking energy from all this active people around. Then there was time for our breaky. And Mia was eating what I was eating. I’ve eaten so many delicious things that it’s difficult to forget. I’m definitely refreshing my Sydney guide.

I gathered so many inspirations, that I’m definitely going to be busy over here. Lets start with the first one – Acai bowl. It is so good that it makes me want to cry. I was introduced to it by Sabine, as before I kind of ignored it (big fan of eggs for breakfast). Everything has changed. I’ve been in Berlin for two mornings now and I had it twice already. So good! Plus, let’s be honest, it’s too easy not to make it. You just place few ingredients in a blender and here it is. I’d suggest to use a good blender as it’s thick and you need to use a help of a wooden spoon from time to time. I found the recipe on a delicious Pop Sugar website (thank you for sharing!), as I had no idea how to create this goodie. Now I know and more experiments are on the way.

Acai berries are very healthy, that’s for sure. I didn’t have a problem with getting it, as we have many organic stores in Berlin, but you can always order it online. What I also like about this one – the colour. Just look at beautiful purple… sooooo nice… It’s also a great breakfast for a hot day, as it’s kind of coldish and refreshing.

Recipe

You will need for acai bowl (for 2):

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 2 frozen sliced bananas
  • 4 tablespoons acai powder
  • 1 cup rice milk
  • 2 tbsp almond butter or any other nut butter
  • ½ to 1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey

YOU WILL NEED FOR THE SERVING:

  • strawberries
  • raspberries
  • blueberries
  • granola
  • bee pollen
  • pistachios
  • chia seeds
  • honey or agave syrup
As I wrote before it’s super easy! Place all the ingredients for an acai bowl in a blender and blend it well. Then divide between two bowls and decorate with berries, granola, bee pollen, pistachios, chia seeds, honey and everything else you’d like to see there.

Enjoy, Marta

Hahahaha, I can imagine. Thankfully Mia is like me on planes – she sleeps all the time. Plus there were people happy to help. She made so many friends. And in the end it was definitely worth it 🙂
