It’s high time to make your own bars. And it was a right time for me as well. I’ve found a very nice recipe on Always with butter blog and I’ve decided to give it a chance. How great it is to grab it for a second breakfast. Not only it’s tasty, looks and smells great (oh vanilla) but it’s also nutritious.
This is what you will need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup cinnamon cherrios
- 1 cup almonds (chopped or slivered)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup butter (softened)
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- raspberry jam
Hit your oven to 175 Celsius degrees and butter a baking pan (20 square centimeters — I used the round one). Mix flour, oats, cherrios, almonds, cinnamon, baking powder and salt together and put it on a side. In a second bowl beat butter, oil, sugar and vanilla. Combine all the ingredients and mix until a crumbly dough forms.
Save 1.5 cup for a topping, and remaining press into the bottom of pan. Put a layer of jam on it (not too thick) and spread rest of the dough over top. Gently press all layers together.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. You need to cool it for around 15 minutes and it’s ready to slice.
It’s perfect for a first or second breakfast and works well with a glass of milk.
Enjoy, Marta
