I am so confused lately that it’s hard to concentrate. One day we have a middle of a summer in Berlin to welcome rainy autumn with a next one. I read a book that was supposed to blow my mind just to ask “seriously?” after a last sentence. It happens. But then something special happens. I managed to visit an amazing place thanks to friends. It was a kind of a magical garden, just like from a book and it moved me back to the time of my childhood. I used to spent most of my time outdoors, collect flowers and fruits from my grandma’s garden, spend hours in a forest. I’ve decided to discover my inner child again and to enjoy nature more. Berlin gives you many possibilities, as it’s full of lakes and green areas. I’ll let you know how it went.

One good thing about traveling often is a time difference. Why? Because thanks to it I’ve learned how to get up very early. My day starts around 6-7 am and I have time to prepare something special. Yesterday I made a baked pancake with nectarines due to Le creme de la crumb’s recipe. The cool thing is that it looks like a cake and it’s fun to eat it for a breakfast. Try yourself.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¾ cup rye flour
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of sugar
  • few nectarines
  • some more sugar for dusting
  • creme fraiche

Preheat your oven to 200*C (400*F). Place butter in an iron pan or a baking dish so it melts.

In a bowl mix eggs, milk, flour, salt and sugar. Pour it into an iron pan and bake for about 20 minutes.

Meantime cut nectarines. When your pancake is baked place nectarines on it, sprinkle with sugar and bake for few more minutes (2-3).

Serve with a teaspoon of creme fraiche or yogurt.

Enjoy, Marta

This looks delicious! It seems so much easier (way less clean-up!) than regular pancakes.

i was really happy with the plate of quinoa pancaks I just finnished. That was until I saw this recipe and realized I will have to wait until next weekend to try these (or get up ever so early tomorrow morning :-> )

This is so good! Wanna try.. But, any suggestion to substitute rye flour? Maybe with all purpose flour? It’s not common seeing rye flour in Singapore..

You can totally replace it with all purpose flour 🙂 Enjoy! <3

It’s in Warsaw. I think I told you about it. Just in the middle of a city, full of veggies, fruits and herbs. And nobody seems to know about it 😉

hey Karolina, tego przepisu nie ma jak zepsuć. A dodałaś mąki żytniej czy pszennej? Tu są aż 4 jajka, także może smakować jajkami 🙂

This looks wonderful. Ah, nothing better than fresh summer fruit! As for the book and weather, sorry that things have been frustratingly unpredictable! I’ve been disappointed by much raved about books and movies on occasion too… you can’t always trust reviews! 🙁

Ah, I’m envious when you write of Berlin’s green spaces. I grew up there and hope to return in a year or two for good. For now, though, I’ll be there this summer and there will surely be at least one “Dampferfahrt.” Your food looks delicious and I’m happy to have joined your blog.

This is beautiful Marta. The weather has been crazy here…this would be perfect with my daily cappucino. By the way, love the glimpse of the tattoo in the first pic. Is that yours?

The weather is just as crazy unpredictable here in Amsterdam! But this breakfast seems like a great way to start off the day, whatever the weather may be. Love your shots! Do you think I could use whole wheat flour instead of the rye?

That looks delicious! Love the use of rye flour, I can only imagine the lovely flavor that would offer. I’ll have to try this sometime! 🙂

Scrumptious! This would go lovingly with my cup if creamy iced coffee.
We’re enduring quite the mercurial summer too! The weather acts as though it’s on ice skates.

    Hi Marta,
Do you think I can increase the sugar and make this a dessert? I was thinking about 1/4 cup of sugar, what do you think? Thanks, Stacey
