Banana and Oat Shake with Cacao and Maca

I need energy and sometimes a fast breakfast. This shake is perfect.

My baby turned one month today. I still can’t believe that I’m her mom. She’s a perfect piece of a miracle. There’s so many feelings in me that I would like to express, but I’ll keep it to myself because I love this feelings and I want to overthink them over and over again.

What I want to share are all the changes. Ladies – mothers respect! I am on the beginning of my way and I am a bit shocked. I saw myself having heaps of time when Mia is sleeping – wrong! I was supposed to sleep when she’s sleeping – wrong! She was supposed to sleep between meals – wrong! Breastfeeding was supposed to be fun – wrong! (at least on the beginning). I thought that after reading a smart book I’ll be able to read my kid – wrong! But there are also other things that are more fun – shooting poo, your child tricking you just when you’ve changed a diaper, newborn smiling, strange sound she makes and you convinced that your child said “hi”, playing with outfits when she totally doesn’t care, stealing kisses what actually puts her to sleep and many more.

It’s been a month! A whole month! And she’s changed like crazy. She’s almost an adult, almost 🙂

I need energy and sometimes a fast breakfast. This shake is perfect. Just place everything in a blender and turn it on. And it tastes great, I was afraid that Tomasz won’t leave me even one glass as he does need an energy as well 😉

You will need:

  • ¼ tsp maca
  • 1 big banana or 1 & 1/2 small
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 4 tbsp oats
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tsp rice syrup
  • 1 plum (optional)

Place everything in a blender and shake it baby!

Enjoy, Marta

I’ve not yet to have a baby, but oh how I loved reading that! Shooting poo does not sound like something I’m looking forward to!That one month sure went quick! x

This recipe was really tempting and since I had everything at home, tried it today morning 😉 Was yummy, although made some minor adjustments: half of the oat I replaced with ground almond, dropped a few icecubes into it, used rice milk instead of almond milk. There was no need for the syrup, as the banana and the maca made it just sweet enough for me. Cacao nibs can also make a good bonus, to make it even a bit crunchy!
I think a good recipe must also be about inspiring more recipes/ideas in others’ mind! 😉 Thanks Marta!

Hahahaha oh I feel ya girl, I feel ya~Those analysis about the first month with baby are spot on with what I experienced! And I’m glad to hear that because it’s such a crazy time in life but when I look back, it’s like it happened 10 years ago and all is still well 😀 This is TMI, but….I really relate to the flying poop. I got squired bad all over my hair, face, and shirt at least once before. 0_0 Lol! Anyway, loving this shake because I’m motivated to start blending again.

I love this because it looks sweet and satisfying and I actually want to make it for breakfast, that is, it’s not some lofty idea of what I could make for breakfast.

Can’t believe Mia is one month already! How time flies! I can’t wait to make this breakfast (or midday) treat. It sounds perfect. [I have never used maca in my kitchen, so I’m beyond curious to start playing with it.] xx

Yes, we learn from our experience and nobody can tell us things will happen this or that way. It is a process, being a mum , and every stage is different and we learn while they grow …

That’s such an awesome recipe, I do banana-almond milk shake every morning, but my version looks more like Britney Spears with no makeup compared to your Monica Bellucci 😉
Mia is 1 month (yay!) and it’s just the beginning of all the amazing changes you’re gonna witness. Take notes, make a little diary, you’ll quickly forget these small “firsts” <3Just watch out eating maca while you breastfeed!
