Bananas Fried in a Dough with a Bit of Cacao and Cinnamon

I used to eat fried bananas in Malaysia on everyday basis. It’s perfect for a breakfast or an afternoon snack.

I used to eat fried bananas in Malaysia on everyday basis. It’s perfect for a breakfast or an afternoon snack. I could easily eat it for dessert as well (I actually did).
As all of you are always so kind and helpful, I have a favor to ask. I’ll be spending the next 3 months in Barcelona, so if you guys have any kind of tips – where to go, what to eat or drink, please share it with me. I’ve been there only once on Offf festival, 3 years ago and I fell in love with this city. I hope that winters in Barcelona are not as cold as in Berlin. I can’t wait for tapas, cava, new flavors and inspirations.

You will need:

  • 1 & ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cacao
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 bananas
  • oil for frying

Mix flour, milk, egg, cinnamon, cocoa and salt in a bowl. Dough should be a bit thicker, so it will stick around banana. Cut bananas in smaller pieces (like on a picture above) and place in a dough, so it will be covered with it.
Heat a pan (over a medium heat) with an olive oil and fry bananas on both sides for about 2-3 minutes (until fried and looking nicely crispy). Tastes great with a castor sugar.
Enjoy, Marta

The last time I had fried bananas was a couple of years ago at a Vietnamese restaurant. They were SO good and I’ve always wanted to make them at home. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe! Love the cacao in the batter. Like a fried, chocolate covered banana.

Hello sweet girl! How exciting! I wish we were going to Barcelona. We’ve been to Madrid but haven’t visited that other famous Spanish city. I can’t wait to live vicariously through you. And these bananas? Delicious. I can see how they could become a morning favorite.

Definitely go to Kiosko (http://www.kioskoburger.com)… the best burgers ever 🙂 a great concept and all organic. No reservations possible and therefore queues as hell in the evenings.. rather go there in the afternoon or some lunch-like time. due to siesta, you can freely spread yourself over three or more chairs just the greek-style ;)My favourite extremely lucious and fruity sorbet ice cream with various toppings -> Stickhouse BCN… in Carrer de la Boquería, 26 (city district: Barri Gotic… just in the city centre).Really really delicious: L’hortet Restaurant, 1 min far from Macba (notabene, a great museum of contemporary art… you’ll know it if you were at OFFF 3 years ago 🙂 ) square.Great vegetarian menues, however a bit more expensive: Teresa Carles (http://www.teresacarles.com…. It’s a quiet cosy place, good for dinner for two ;)Great parties and concerts: Razzmatazz (http://www.salarazzmatazz.com)… :)And you really should go to Tibidabo. It’s a pittoresque monastery as well as an amusement park and.. above all you have the best view over whole Barcelona from out there.I’ve been to OFFF for last five years.. since 2011 it’s back in Barcelona where it once started… YAYYY 🙂 Are you going there next year again?PS: huh and if you find it anywhere, you really really must try “salame dolce” with yoghurt for dessert… sweet salami 🙂 I guess you can find the best one at Buenas Migas (http://www.buenasmigas.com/…..

I went to Barcelona at the end of August.. the one place I just HAVE TO recommend is Tickets (Bar). The entire dining experience is one that I will never forget! But book soon.. you normally have to book 3 months in advance, but sometimes if you go at 7PM (more like 6:45PM) and wait in line, there is a chance that they might seat you! I posted some of their foods on my blog (tiwiat.tumblr.com). And I posted Barcelona’s architecture on my normal blog (picturebuffay.tumblr.com). They’re not the best pictures.. but I tried! Haha.I loved Barcelona. It’s so beautiful there and the people are so friendly! I hope to be as blessed as you to be able to travel there again! And for three months.. wow! Please share your adventures (food and all) on your site! Oh – and definitely try to go to one of Barça’s football games! The energy is amazing!
