Yeah, I’m having a beer for breakfast and I don’t feel guilty about it! Plus, OMG, it’s so good. Thank you so much Honest Fare for this amazing recipe. As I wrote a couple of days ago, I’ve decided to bake a bread. I started with an easy one – cornbread. Then I had to take a break, because I wasn’t sure if the real one will be easy enough. And then boom, I’ve found this recipe. And I must tell you, baking the bread is a piece of cake.
You will need:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 can of beer (330 ml, any beer)
- 3 tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 175*C and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan. In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Pour in beer, stir until a stiff batter is formed, but don’t over mix. Place the dough in the form. Melt the butter and brush across top of dough (yes, not baked one). Bake for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean.
Enjoy, Marta
Just a heads up… this same recipe is wayyyyy better if instead of brushing a measly 3T of butter over the top you actually pour a whole stick of melted butter over the loaf 10 minutes before it’s scheduled to come out of the oven. Trust me on this one. I’ve been making this bread for a gazillion years. <3
