I liked bircher muesli that Tomasz had in Gipfeltreffen so much, that the very next morning I made a similar thing at home. The trick is, that you need to prepare muesli the night before, so it will soak a juice or milk. It is delicious and does not require cooking. In a morning you just add extras, like a seasonal fruits, nuts or honey.
You will need (for 2):
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
- ¼ cup pistachios, fried
- 6 plums, drilled
- 1 fig
- honey
- natural yogurt, optional
Place oats in a bowl, pour orange juice over it, cover with a foil or silver and place in a fridge for a night.
In the morning cut plums in pieces and place on a bottom of cups, divide oats between two of them, cover with fried or baked pistachios and put the rest of plums and fig on top. I like mine with honey, so I poured a bit on top. You can also add a bit of a natural yogurt.
Enjoy, Marta.

Thank you dear! And I agree, so easy to make and much better than ones we buy in stores <3
What is “Bircher” about your Müsli?”Vor gut hundert Jahren entwickelte der Zürcher Arzt Maximilian Bircher-Benner (1867-1939) das Birchermüesli. Der Gründer des Sanatoriums «Lebendige Kraft» am Zürichberg und Ernährungsreformer nannte die Kreation «d Spys» oder «Apfeldiätspeise». Das ursprüngliche Rezept besteht nur aus Äpfeln, Haferflocken, Haselnüssen, Wasser, Zitronensaft und gezuckerter Kondensmilch.”
