We’ve been wandering around Friedrichshain, looking for a nice place to do the one thing that Sunday was created for – to relax, and we found Aunt Benny – a small, cosy cafe with good coffee and nice vibe. At 12.30 pm it was full of people, but we managed to find two spots on a window shelf covered with cushions.
The first thing I’ve noticed as I entered was a big wooden table (just like in Amsterdam) with many chairs, so you can sit with other people if you like. The second was a blackboard wall covered with menu and display with delicious looking quiches, tarts and sandwiches.
We had coffee and Tomasz took a bagel with freshly made jalapeños and red onion cream cheese. Bagel was fresh, soft and crispy, honestly, one of the best I had for a long time (yes, it was T.’s bagel, but sharing is caring).
They have a weekend menu, which is something they can always surprise you with and there are also interesting options for vegans.
I like a vibe of the place, staff is very friendly and do not mind if you sit over your coffee for a bit longer, as we did. It makes this place perfect not only for coffee but also to come with a book or to grab a cup and read one of many interesting magazines they have.
Aunt Benny is located opposite a park with a playground, so it will make both – children and parents happy.
