Eat Berlin – Friedl Rösterei & Kekse, Prenzlauer Berg

Beautiful hidden gem.

Prenzlauer Berg has a new coffee pearl – Friedl Rösterei & Kekse. You may think that it’s just another coffee place, but it definitely is something more. The first thing I’ve noticed was a perfect natural light and a big wooden table. The place is tiny and has only one of those, but it’s enough. I was sitting there for a while with Mia sleeping in a stroller and I dream about a studio with this kind of light. Just perfect.

Going back to business – they have a very good coffee from all around and they know how to make a good cup. And… wait for it… they have an amazing/delicious/beautiful/mouthwatering brownies and other sweets. They also have a very fair prices for these goods, what is appreciated by yours truly.

As a very honest person I told the owners that I appreciate the brownie’s price and that coffee is amazing and this tiny place is such a gem. And, apparently this was their plan, to make people happy. What makes you more happy than good coffee and sweets?

They also roast beans and you can see the roastery part through a big old school window. It definitely is a place to come with a book or a nice magazine and to simply enjoy your time.

Minimal decor gives it a rough yet interesting look.  And there are small packages of different coffee you can take home and try. Definitely, but definitely grab one brownie.

Oh sweet Jesus. I read the post, and as soon as I got to Berlin I headed to Friedl. We LOVED the place so much. We had a cup of coffee and our 10-month-old enjoyed a few cantuccis. The owners, together with their friends and kids, running around, sat at the table with us and had a chat. It was a lovely, blistering hot, lazy afternoon. thanks a lot for the reccomendation!
