Visiting new places is always exciting, especially when they sound very promising.  If you know Shakespeare & Sons in Prenzlauer Berg (Raumerstrasse 36), you know what I’m talking about.

Shakespeare & Sons in Friedrichshain has few big advantages to start with – books, coffee and bagels. Additionally it’s located in my neighbourhood, quite close to home, serves decaf coffee (I am on a small coffee rehab at the moment and I am trying to have one per day – that’s most probably a for having it at 6 am, as I simply can’t wait longer), it has wifi, you’re welcome with your computer, interior is minimalistic yet interesting, I’ve been here three times and each member of a staff is friendly and very helpful.

It reminds me times when I was writing my thesis and spending a lot of time in a library. The only things that can distract you here are well selected books that you want to grab and read.

If you like bagels, this is a perfect place to visit. It’s fresh, delicious and you will face a big choice – zaatar, onion, chernushka, egg, garlic, cinnamon and many more different bagels. You can have it plain or choose one of cream cheeses. I’ve tried an avocado one and yes, it was a very good choice.

It’s not only a place where you can have a breakfast, so come over, grab coffee or a bagel and read a book.

Very rude staff. Ordered us to come to counter to order a coffee and cocoa, then shouted at us about shouting, before ignoring us and taking the order from the next guest. We left.

Books, bagels, and coffee? The trifecta! This would be my favorite place, I think. Thank you for sharing, sweet Marta!
