Eat Berlin – the Barn

I love coffee and I realize that I post this sentence like 1001st time. But when you love something, you

I love coffee and I realize that I post this sentence like 1001st time. But when you love something, you write about it. You also look for it wherever you go. I’ve been talking with Mr T about a perfect spot for a cup of coffee. Of course it has to serve delicious coffee plus something extra for a small bite that will go well with it. The second, very importent point, was that it has to be a relaxing, comfy and friendly place. Sounds like every coffee shop? Not really. There’s always something missing. But not in The Barn. I am very sentimental about this place, as it was the first coffee place I went to when I moved to Berlin. It took me a year to write about it, but as my grandma says – better late than never.

If you come to Berlin during warm days and feel like starting your day with a good cup of coffee and in a good place, go to The Barn and sit outside. Whenever I come here I plan on staying only 15-20 minutes, but usually I leave after an hour. This small, cozy place has an amazing atmosphere and most probably the most friendly staff in Berlin. They’re always helpful, eager to talk about coffee or explain what each sandwich contains or just have a friendly chat. 20 meters away is Do You Read Me, where you can grab your favorite magazine and read it while enjoying coffee. You also want to try their sandwiches. The one with cheese, beetroot, pear and delicious sauce I usually have is too good to share with Mr T (eventually I do it and always regret it).

Enjoy, Marta

ask for the aeropress iced black coffee – it’s the best thing on the menu! And the Pastels de Nata that they sell are almost on par with the original ones from Belem in Portugal, I can never pay a visit to the Barn without getting a couple 🙂

I never thought of combining beetroot with pear in a sandwich, must try when my Asian pears and beetroots are ready for harvesting.

Perfect cup of coffee…just what I need right now. Nothin like a piping hot mug of coffee to cheer you up, and if it is in a lovely little corner like this, it’s even better.

That looks like the perfect cup of coffee…and so beautiful too. I can never get enough of it too. The Barn sounds amazing and it’s definitely a place I would love to visit some day. 🙂

I envy people who like coffee because I don’t and I feel like I am missing out on something special. There are so many different ways to have it and none of them tempt me. But people talk about coffee as if it is the Holy Grail and I will never be a part of that.
