Emergency Morning Green Bowl Breakfast – Mia Approved!

When in need of an emergency breakfast, this is for you.

Life is changing. You think that getting pregnant is the beginning of the most amazing adventure in your life. Then you get what it means to be pregnant and you wait for the moment when you see your child for the very first time. Then you wait for the first month to pass so your life will go back to normal and then you understand that it never will and what is happening is actually the adventure you were imagining at the beginning.

But the adventure is slightly different than your original vision. It involves a lot of learning. And I mean A LOT! How they sleep, how they eat, how they play, how they react and then when you finally get it, it changes. And then again, and again and at some point you realise that you know your kid pretty well, and that it is so awesome, that you cannot express it enough, because this is a kind of awesomeness that you need to experience to understand.

Yep, my kid is awesome. Even more, she’s a master of awesomeness and I am just trying to catch up with her.

A part of catching up is trying to feed them well, in a way they will accept. Meaning, so that they actually eat it. Mia is great with food, she used to be even better, as she ate everything. But slowly she starts to be picky. And I try to give her good breakfasts that she will actually eat. Today breakfast was totally approved. She was sure that these are fruits and I sneaked spinach, celery and avocado into it!

I’ll post more breakfasts that Mia approved. There are already some on the blog, like:

Rolled crepes with chocolate and banana,

Millet pancakes,

Fluffy omelette with pears, cranberries, blue cheese and thyme,

Delicious crossed buns with ricotta and peaches ,

Chocolate waffles with ice creams and raspberry sauce.

Recipe

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • avocado
  • kiwi
  • ½ celery stick
  • handful spinach
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp honey

YOU WILL NEED FOR SERVING:

  • pollen
  • grapes
  • pistachios
  • peach
  • granola
  • coconut flakes
Place everything in a blender and blend well. It will be thick. It should be. When it’s hot you can place it in a fRidge.

Decorate with fruits, nuts, granola, coconut flakes, pollen.

Enjoy, Marta

I am not really a smoothie person…still prefer to eat fruits just as they are, but this one looks really great with that lovely green colour.

I definitely prefer whole fruits as well, but unfortunately my kid said no to spinach and any other veggies and I had to figure out how to make her eat it. This solution works well 🙂

I am so in love with these photos! That spring green is stunning. I think Mia has classier taste than even some adults 😉

hahaha, she just liked it because of the colours and she thought it was a dessert. But she has a splendid taste. My little sweet girl.

Oh yes she does 😀 I hope she will for always. I love to cook for this lady, most probable because it’s easy, hahaha.

I don’t think I’ll ever get to the point when I believe I know my son pretty well. He’s always surprising me in some way, actually the most shocking discovery I made about him was that he had a life of his own – yeah, go figure, how dare he to have a life outside of being his momma’s boy? – with thoughts and feelings I was not made privy to… I dread teenage years!!! If he is anything like me, I will be in hell. If he is like his dad, I’ll be in double hell. At least he makes me proud everyday by stating he hates junk food and will never eat it. And he has actually tried it, but he did not care for it!!

hahahaahahah I looooove your writing! And honesty. I can already see that Mia took all the biggest minuses after me and Tomasz. For now she loves to sleep and I see it as an advantage, but you can imagine what it will mean during the school times – not easy for me. When I think that I know everything, she changes and there’s new Mia in front of me. I remember talking to mothers when I was pregnant and I must tell you that they did not tell me even 10% of what to expect hahahah.

I tried to cover my ears when I was pregnant and other mothers started telling me what to expect, actually, they painted such dreadful pictures of the first three years!! Honestly, those were the best years in a sense that my son was one of those really amazing babies who slept the night through, didn’t fuss, didn’t have tantrums, was really sweet and a joy to be around. As soon as he started kindergarden, though… yeah. New person all together. YOu’ll do fine with Mia, I’m pretty sure, she’s such an amazing kid, but that thing about liking sleep, yeah I can see how that will be a tough cookie when she’s at school eheh.

  • That looks delicious and I love the way it’s presented. No wonder Mia approved, she has good taste (just like her mother)… ;-)Cheers,Rosa

She does! And she knows what she likes. Thank you Rosa!

Totally agree with you that having a kid is a thrilling adventure. I have to admit that my brain has been working non-stop to adapt and learn tons of new thing about my little boy. And to prepare for the unexpected to come ;-). And I’m sure that you do all your best for your Mia as well as for these enjoyable recipes. Thanks a lot!

These are crazy times for mothers. Not only everything changes with our kids on a month to month period of time. We also have to do all the other things. I have a feeling that I am thinking all the time. And when I saw a movie with Sara Jessica Parker “I Don’t Know How She Does It” I got that I’m not the only one. If they make movies about it, it has to be a global thing 😀

I can relate to this! My boy used to a better eater. No problem with greens or beans or broccoli. But now he started to become picky and smoothie is one perfect way to make kids eat more veggie. Moms gotta do, what she gotta do! 😀

hahaha, I am somehow glad that I’m not the only one (sorry!). It is tricky sometimes. She’s just 2 and I miss times when she was 1,5 and ate everything 😀
