French Toast with Crispy Prosciutto

Winter may be not the best period for a breakfast photography, especially when you need to leave apartment early in the morning. Sun is too lazy nowadays and doesn’t want to borrow me some light. Amsterdam starts to get crazy and show a winter face. It’s so windy that it’s sometimes hard to bike around! We have busy days with Mr T and I love it. 

You will need (for 2):

  • 1 tbsp pouring cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 4 thick slices bread
  • 40g butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 slices prosciutto
  • maple syrup (optional)

In a shallow bowl combine the cream, eggs, sugar and cinnamon, soak each slide of bread in a mixture (both sides)

Melt the butter on a big frying pan and cook on both sides until golden. 

In another pan heat the olive oil and fry prosciutto until crisp (you can do it in the oven as well). Dry it with a paper towel and place on toasts. Serve with the maple syrup.
