I find it impossible not to walk around Gdańsk at the sunrise and sundown.
Gdańsk is one of these cities that steals your heart by it’s look and then you start to learn how important and unique it is. I find it impossible not to walk around at the sunrise and sundown. The buildings and water are in a perfect balance, the colours and tiny streets create an exceptional eye candy. It is perfect or perfectly dangerous to travel with kids (depending on your kid). Perfect because there are so many places to learn from, it is beautiful and have a lot ot water around; dangerous – because it has all the water access on almost each corner. For us it was the first option, because Mia is not a trickster jumping into a canal, but I still had a close look at her.
For me it was incredible to learn more about Gdańsk, I could share the history with you, but it would not impress you as much as actually visiting European Solidarity Center and The Museum of Second World War.
If you don’t have much time in Gdańsk (which is an obvious mistake), go for a walk around Wyspa Spichrzów. The views are spectacular.
Do not miss Mariacka street – beautiful itself, you can find amber shops and nice cafes on it. And it is a famous one as well.
Black Pearl Ship on Długie Pobrzeże is another obligatory stop. You don’t have to jump on it if you don’t feel like it, but looking and admiring is free and worth it.
Check out many of incredible gates and walk through them to discover some special hidden places.
Climb Tower of the Bazylika Mariacka for incredible view over the city.
