I can hardly remember my days in Sydney, morning walks on a beach with beautifully smelling coffee in my hand. I did it each day for a month and each morning was better than a previous one. I loved small coffee shop on a way to Bondi, great barista who always knew how to make a perfect cup for me. And then a crowded beach at 6:30 am. Sydney was exercising, running, swimming or joining me for a coffee. I am back in Berlin but some things stayed unchanged. I still get up early, enjoy my coffee and a walk. Do you like to observe life of your city? Berlin is amazing in the morning. People going to work or preparing for an important meeting at a coffee shop, others coming back from a party or mothers with newborns. It’s all here. I usually go to Goodies, as it’s the only place with a good coffee open at 7 am in my neighbourhood. I’d like to experiment some more so if you happen to know cafe in Friedrichshain that’s open this early please let me know.
As I wrote before I am still having a small strawberry obsession. This beautiful, sweet and juicy little treasures don’t want to leave my mind. This time I cooked them with quinoa and an orange juice. The colour looks great, the taste is even better. I love quinoa for it’s specific flavour, but it was nice to have a sweet and juicy version of it.
You will need:
- 1 cup quinoa
- 2 cups strawberries
- 1,5 cup orange juice
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp agave sirup
- zest ½ orange
- ½ vanilla bean
- pinch of salt
- pinch od cinnamon
- pinch of ginger
Place everything in a pot, bring to boil and then reduce the temperature to low and cook until all juice evaporates (about 15 minutes).
Serve with pistachios, yogurt or fruits.
Enjoy, Marta

Hey Magalie, it’s written in the recipe to “cook until all juice evaporates”, so I think you stopped cooking too early 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous – I’m not yet a quinoa convert but I think that may be about to change! Like you, I’ve been all about the strawberries lately and can’t wait to roast some with balsamic this weekend.
This looks so awesome, I’m going to try it asap! Just one thing: did you use raw quinoa and cooked it in the fruit?
I am obsessed with strawberries too. I love this healthy breakfast!
That is an unusual and interesting breakfast and one I could happily eat. I walk along the beach here every day too, winter and summer.
What a perfect, nutritious, summer breakfast. I can’t wait to try it! 🙂http://www.departmentofwandering.com
Strawberries are so lovely to eat and so good for you too! I remember how much I loved them when I was pregnant with Lucy. I would eat them by the cartonfuls! Now, I still love them and she does too!
I’m trying this one! What a great breakfast and so simple!
Sydney sounds amazing. But so does Berlin! I’d like to visit either some day :)This recipe looks delicious… and healthy. Thanks for posting it. I don’t have a lot of experience cooking quinoa, but will have to try it!I love your blog. Nice style.-amber

What a delicious new breakfast idea! I love quinoa, whether sweet or savoury and love this idea!
Great breakfast and greater pictures! You need to give us lessons on photography. Btw this is Lady 8 Home and I still struggle with pictures especially if it’s gloomy and clody teh way it is today.
This looks super delicious and so healthy! And it sounds really easy to make. Thanks for sharing the recipe 🙂http://recipe-suitcase.blog…
It seems so good and so simple to make 🙂 Definitely to try soon!!
Such a unique idea! And totally stunning. LOVE!
Delicious, fresh, beautiful and healthy. A great idea!Cheers,Rosa
This seemed like a great idea! I tried this today but found the liquid to quinoa ratio to be off. It was more like a soup! That extra 1/2 cup of OJ was too much.
