When you move between different cities and have a chance to live in them for a while, you are a happy happy person (I am). But each action goes with reaction. What do I mean? There is a small chance that I’ll come back to Barcelona any time soon. I have not even a week left and I am wild. If you’re from Barcelona and you see crazy lady running around, eating as much as possible and telling everyone how much she likes this city, this may be me. So just ignore me and move on, hahaha.
I made a lemon and rosemary loaf today, not too big, just for me and Tomasz. We were supposed to grab a thermos with hot coffee at 7 am and see the sunrise while eating this loaf for breakfast on a beach. There is just one problem, it’s already gone. Yes, it didn’t have a chance to cool down. I found this recipe on a lovely blog Amy messenger. I really enjoy reading good blogs and am always happy to discover ones.
It is my last Friday over here so I need to run to Champaneria, it’s open only to 10pm, crazy city. Big hug to you all and have a perfect weekend!
You will need:
- 170g butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- zest from 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup natural yogurt
- 3 eggs
- 1 & ½ cup flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
Preheat your oven to 170*C (350*F). In a bowl mix butter and sugar. You can use mixer but I don’t have it so I used fork. When ready add the rest of ingredients and combine them. Grease baking form with butter, place the dough inside and bake for about 45 minutes. Check it after 35 minutes with a toothpick 🙂
Enjoy, Marta
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I bake quite a bit, but haven’t used yogurt in a batter such as this one. Even though the butter was at room temp when I creamed it with the sugar, the yogurt curdled when I added it, and the batter was unusable. Any suggestions as to how to avoid this? I did look into it and it said low fat yogurt is more likely to curdle, which I did not know. May want to add a note to the recipe.

Hi Paula, it never happened to me and only 2 weeks ago I baked 3 at once 🙂 Most probably you’re right with low fat yogurt, I always use a regular one. How did you mix? Maybe for too long? Did you use electric mixer?
You realise that 170g butter are way too much? I have my guests coming in 30 minutes and the loaf swims in butter in the oven.
-
No it’s not. And it’s impossible that your cake is swimming because of it. There’s too much of flour. I made this recipe at least 20 times and it always worked. I also gave link to the original recipe where amount is the same and I don’t see anyone complaining over there. Please don’t spam. Regards, Marta
One of my favorite quick breads is a lemon tarragon bread so I know that this a loaf of bread that I would have a hard time sharing. Love the flavors!
What a gorgeous loaf of bread. I wouldn’t be able to make it last either. Such beauty in your pictures, sweet friend. You always know how to inspire me!
Great Photos agaein Martha! I love your blog. Have fun the last days in Barcelona, this city is just amazing.
What a beautiful loaf! Rosemary is the only herb I have left in my garden, so I think I should make it soon. 🙂
Just the combo makes my mouth water, my nose is twitching with the imaginary aroma….and I love the gorgeous photos!
I have to remember to chop my rosemary finely – I never do it well enough and then I end up eating chunks of it, bleh!
enjoy your time there..what a beautiful loaf..i dont blame you for finishing it so quick.
WOW! this looks beautiful.
These pictures are beautiful, so bright and vibrant! Love all the flavors in this loaf.
What a shame your stay is coming to an end! The loaf looks nice and simple to make – just how I like them.
Wow! That is a gorgeous loaf!! Absolutely love the first photo. Its amazing you get to live in different cities. I visited Barcelona for a few days 2 years ago and really loved it. I want to go back and spend more time there for longer next time. Perhaps a whole week. That would be a luxury for me! 🙂 And different! given how restless I ambtw, how do you manage to travel and live in multiple cities? Are you going back to Berlin?
Gosh, what a great recipe! This looks wonderful. I’ve enjoyed your Barcelona posts. Thanks for sharing the city with us.
beautiful. i love the combination of rosemary and lemon
Marta, I make this cake a lot. Instead of butter, I use olive oil (it’s Dorie Greenspan’s French style yogurt cake recipe). Simple and delicious, and I always add rosemary!
This sounds absolutely fantastic! I’ve just stumbled across your blog, by the way and I love your photos, layout and concept!
