My grandma told me that getting sting by nettle is very healthy. For sure it’s not pleasant. But eating it i a totally different story.
I eat nettle. Who would guess. My childhood was full of it, but not in my meals. We used to have many games involving nettle, like running through it or running away from someone chasing you with it. But I would never think of eating it. My grandma (only the coolest lady ever) told me that getting sting by nettle is very healthy. For sure it’s not pleasant. But eating it i a totally different story. I made a bit of research and apparently nettle is super healthy. It will help you get rid of toxins (yey!), clean your digestive system and contains iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphor and much more. What not to love.
You will need:
- ½ cup strawberries
- ½ stick rhubarb
- handful nettle
- 1 tsp linseed
- juice from 1 orange
- ½ tsp maca
- ½ tsp hemp seed for serving
Place everything except for hemp seeds in a blender and shake ity baby. Serve with hemp seeds on top.
Enjoy, Marta
Never ate nettles — so interesting that you can! This recipe is so original — thanks!
This shake is just mind-blowing, Marta!!
I didn’t grow up eating nettle, but have added it here and there to a few things. I really like this idea for a drink! Definitely need to try it 🙂
This is beautiful, Marta! I had no idea that nettle was edible… how wonderful to learn something new. <3
Nettle is not something we see in Dallas but we grew up around it. In Nepal, they sautee it and eat like any other vegetables.

In Poland where I spent my childhood it was always around. But I started to eat it years later 🙂

Thank you Rosa 🙂
Goodness Marta, this is absolutely gorgeous. And your grandma really sounds like a wise woman! I’d love to try including nettles in a recipe, but something still holds me back. But maybe I should try this. So you can eat them raw like that? x Ingrid

Yes with shake you can have it just like it. If you’re afraid that it will sting you, you can always pour hot water over it 🙂
Wow, I didn’t know you could eat nettle! This sounds like a cool way to use it 🙂

Oh yes you can, you can use it like spinach 🙂
beautiful shake… I love and use nettle frequently (by my grandmothers recipes)…
she even taught me that you can even eat nettle tops raw early in the spring…
