There are things in life that make us happy – a good song, favourite movie, good coffee, nuts in honey…
Somehow I have become really sentimental lately. It’s not because of my age, as I stoped at 25 years ago, but because of Mia. She grows. She is almost 3 years old and somehow I can almost see her leaving home for University. Or if I am less lucky, she will stay with mama forever 😉 (if you ever read it, please do!). I start to understand my parents, which I never thought will happen and I am in love with Polish movies from 70’s-90’s. I remember times when we did not have a phone at home and no tv. I also remember when we got the first black and white tv and all the neighbours (we were the first one in the building who had it) would come over to watch only 1 film there was during a day. I usually ended up as a big party and everyone was talking only about the next possible action in “Escrava Isaura” which was the first TV series I’ve ever seen. I also created a playlist with all the polish songs I used to love as a kid and remind me of old times. Do you miss a past from time to time? Teenage years with no obligations and problems which now we finally realise are no problems at all… Oh life…
There are things in life that make us happy – a good song, favourite movie, good coffee. Nuts in honey, or agave syrup or a maple syrup. You just put nuts in a jar and cover it well with the liquid part. Leave it for at least three days and taste the magic. It’s seriously good. You can serve it on sandwiches or add it to your tea or eat it from a jar.

There is something in it, specially after turning 30 😀 I am way closer to 40 and it seems to get better and better 😀
You are so sweet and Mia is so lucky to have such a wonderful mama. This idea of nuts in something sweet sounds incredible, so simple yet exciting to me! Hoping time goes by slow for you this week Marta, so you can soak up all of your moments with your girl.

it went super fast! This one as well. If only I could apply somewhere so the time slows down…
Time passes and our children grow so fast …
Ummm, I have never tasted it and I am looking forward to it: today I prepare it and we will try it this weekend

Let me know if you like it 🙂
Can you share this playlist with your Polish fans? 🙂

Oh yes, it is on Spotify 😀 Public 😀
NO way you are old enough to remember Escrava Isaura!!!!! Unless it is the more recent version? Or did you see the one with Lucrécia Santos playing the role of Isaura? NO way, I was a child when that telenovela aired here in Portugal, I remember it and Gabriela too so well!! THose, along with a few others, are staples of my childhood! I’m very sentimental ever since I became a mom, but I realised recently that I must have always been that way, as I was re-reading novels I wrote about twenty years ago and the writing, the dialogues, the musings of the characters are full of sentimentality – they’re utterly obnoxious! I think I used to channel all those sentiments into my writing, and that’s why nowadays my novels are just a little bit better than they were: because I give free rein to my sentimentality daily, outside my writing ahah!! Oh nuts in honey are one of those things I cannot have around me, a jar will last less than ten minutes in my hands.

I am old enough 😀 I totally watched the old version with my parents. Funny times 🙂
I also stopped mentally at the age of 25 and well with this, I never want to feel old. Old age is the state of mind.
I
am a child of PRL, where there was not so much sweets (but it was
probably healthy for children), we ate combinations of sweets, nuts in
honey, candy orange peel and the most delicious apple pie or cheesecake
in the world. The most I liked fresh bread with cottage cheese and honey or strawberry jam and it has not changed today. Everything was made from natural ingredients and was made at home.
Nice to go back to the carefree time.

Oh yes, the same over here, these were awesome times. I make a lot of an apple cake as well 😀
These nuts look very tempting. They’d sweeten anyone’s day, I’m sure…I can’t believe Mia’s almost 3 years old! Time sure passes fast.Cheers,Rosa

Ne either, I feel like crying a lot lately. Time passes so fast.

So sorry to hear that. Yes, time’s an illusion…

Mia is almost 3?! Time does fly, doesn’t it? You’re right — she’ll be going to university any day now. 😀 Anyway, this looks SO good — thanks!

I know! I can already see it. She was super tiny just yesterday and today she knows things and she talks and is so funny.
Like the idea of just eating this from the jar. I could do that. What a life Mia has had in just 3 years! It’s going to be fun to watch her grow up and share y’alls adventures. Oh yes, there are a few memories that I wish I could revisit in my teenage years. However, now that I’m much “older”, I have to admit that life is easier. 🙂
