The last weeks were crazy for me. Everything because after two years in Amsterdam, we’ve decided to say good bye. We’ll be moving to Berlin and I can’t wait, as I love this city. But still, I feel so sad to leave Amsterdam…
Amsterdam greeted me with a rain, low temperatures and difficulties with finding a reasonable apartment. After two months I’ve started to feel over here like at home. I’ll miss an incredible architecture, canals, houseboats, my beloved bicycle and numerous street fairs. I will most definitely miss to ride a bicycle in the rain (I’m not kidding). I know that it’s possible in Berlin, but still… Beside the city I’ll miss it’s food. Herring in a bun with onion and cucumber, cheese, poffertjes and waffles with caramel.
Do you know a taste of Stroopwafels? It’s a perfect appetizer, especially when it’s cold, as it’s served hot, buttered with fresh caramel. Heaven in your mouth! I wanted to make some, but I do not have a waffle machine, and most probably I won’t acquire it any time soon. That’s why we made a small video showing, how professionals create this small treasures 🙂
If you are in Amsterdam, be sure to taste one!
Enjoy, Marta

Luckily for you, many German “Organic food stores” also sell stroopwafels. ^^

oh yes, this is what I like about Berlin as well 🙂
You know, if you want the best stroopwafels you have to go to Gouda. That’s the place were it’s originaly is made. I live in a small village around 5km from gouda. And the nice thing is you can bye them also in stores. They are a little smaller but still delicious. If i were you i should a bunch of them (=

good to know, thank you so much for a tip 🙂
I’d love to make waffles myself, but don’t own a waffle iron either. Love them. These seem interesting.
