I was visiting Uncle Google and searching for information about the best way to moisturize the skin (after too many hours on a plane it needs water by injection) and I repeatedly came across tomato juice. Knowledge and health can not be ignored, so I’ve began to read. After an hour I was cutting tomatoes, tearing basil leaves, and blender couldn’t wait to start blending. It turns out that this drink is a true friend for your body and the friend must be respected, so you should grab a glass of it quite often. Why is it so good? Just look at it:
- helps to eliminate tension and makes you calm
- contains lycopene which reduces the likelihood of heart disease, cancer and atherosclerosis
- contains fiber which helps with digestion and is great for detoxing your system.
- protects the skin from wrinkles, helps in fight against acne and moisturizes the skin
- strengthens nails and hair
- is a hangover cure
What not to love? If you’d like to twist a taste, follow the recipe.
You will need:
- 4 tomatoes (medium), cut into cubes
- handful of basil, fresh
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- pinch of cayenne pepper
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend it. On a hot day you can always add few cubes of ice.

GREAT picture
I think I’m the only person I know who likes tomato juice. I could guzzle that stuff like there’s no tomorrow. A pinch of cayenne and that slight tang from vinegar make a huge difference. I never tried it with basil before though. I bet that’s good – I can recommend radishes as well, if you have some nice peppery ones!

I agree, not many people I know like tomato juice, but I do. And it’s a good hangover cure.
What great pictures! I usually just opt to open a can of V8, but yours looks so much better and A LOT less salt. Can’t wait for my basil to get big enough to start picking!
What a lovely idea! Makes an awesome palette cleanser toO!
Sounds delicious! Now if there was a way to incorporate mozzarella!
well if it’s that good for you I should get onto it for sure! thanks for sharing you new found wisdom!
Sounds like a winner. Cannot wait for my garden to be producing tomatoes.
I never would have guessed! My skin has been so dry since arriving home from Austin. I need to make a glass of this ASAP. Thank you for sharing!
I just stumbled across your blog and I’m so glad to have found it! You are amazingly talented and I can’t wait to explore more of your culinary creations!
This looks like a terrific drink! Add a bit of vodka and you have a Bloody Mary! 😉 Really, love this – the basil in it must taste sensational. Thanks.
huh! Nice to know this simple remedy…sounds delish and refreshing in all sorts of ways =)
I love this refreshing change from the typical smoothie!
I can believe it is good for you and must taste amazing. Funnily enough one of the only times I drink tomato juice is when I am flying.
Ohhh..you should TOTALLY grow tomatos and basil!!!
I often use tomato juice as a morning after remedy as that is what my body craves. Now I shall drink it after flying as well 🙂
I love this. Sounds like it is so healthy and delicious.
I love the flavors, this does remind me of gazpacho!
This is almost like a gazpacho! It sounds delicious. I get SO dehydrated from flying too, it’s the worst. :/
This juice sounds so good! It’s almost like a bloody mary without the vodka…and with basil…and I guess it’s not all THAT similar, but it does sound great. 🙂
Hi, this look really good. Very nice combination.Have a wonderful week ahead.
I love me some tomatoes! And if it’s going to help me get prettier skin… all the better!
