Birds are singing, sun is shining and my suitcase is finally unpacked. I’m staying in a temporary apartment (OMG it’s so beautiful), so all my pots, bowls, plates, and even a cutlery is packed in boxes that create a tower around 15 km away from me. This state doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve already discovered small stores with amazing kitchen stuff, and it’s a great occasion to do some shopping 😉 But for now my main task is to relax. The past weeks were full of packing, unpacking, goodbyes, hellos, organizing, and all the rest. So now the time for a proper rest came.
While walking around Berlin, I could not resist to visit numerous organic stores. It makes me happy to look at all this amazing, healthy products and I can’t wait to make something out of them. For now I’m truly fascinated with a watermelon. Yes, just watermelon. I could eat it for each meal, each day.
Just before leaving Amsterdam I was on a dinner, where a host prepared delicious salad with the watermelon, goat cheese and basil. And today it was my breakfast.
You will need (for 2):
- quarter of a watermelon
- handful of basil leafs, chopped
- feta cheese (as much as you like), chopped
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
Cut the watermelon, drizzle with the olive oil, sprinkle with basil, season with salt and pepper, mix all together and simply enjoy the spring flavors.
Enjoy, Marta

thank you Amy!
I was at LPG at Senefelder Platz today and although I love it – here’s a really, really important tip. Never EVER go there around 15 – 17 unless you want to leave with a headache because every screaming child and their mother descends upon that place after school. Maybe the days I was there were just especially bad but wow. I just put my stuff back up and left one day. It was terrible.I hope you’re enjoying Berlin! You came just at the right time as the German strawberries showed up this week. :)I love your pictures! I’ll go take a look around now.
-
Thank you Erin! I’ve found the strawberries and I keep eating it each day, hahaha. Good tip with LPG. I like to work in cafes, and I totally know what you mean. I love children and their screaming and laugh, but not when I have to work. There is a lovely place: Milch Halle Berlin in Mitte. You should check it out!
-
Oh, I wish I would have known about it a few days ago! I was taking an Italian class at the Volkhochschule right near there and we always walked aimlessly around on the lunch break. Thanks for the tip. 🙂 I’ll keep it in mind for the future!
-
No worries, and whenever you’ll find a nice place let me know! I’m still new over here, so each tip will be welcomed 🙂

The only two places I go (because I’m lame and hate wasting money when I can make better food myself) are The Bird for the burger, which you need to order one step higher than you really want it. Like if you want it medium, ask for medium-well. And you need to make a reservation! Even for 6pm on a weekday. And La Galeria Italliana (http://www.qype.com/place/1…. It’s really tiny but the food is good and pretty cheap. I think they have lunch specials for 6 euro or so. I’ll let you know if I find anything else that’s good!

So glad I stopped by today. You have a beautiful site and breathtaking photography!

Thank you Cassie! I’ve just checked your recipe for rosemary roasted nuts and I love it!
Have you ever tried smashing watermelons? I never have but apparently it’s really fun. You blindfold yourself and smash watermelons with your friends using a stick and then eat the cold watermlon with your hands ^^
-
It sounds like a great fun! I want to try it!
I love it! You are just like me – if I have something really, really good, I will try to recreate it as soon as possible, even if that means I eat it for breakfast! This is so colorful and sound delicious~

It’s nice to know that there are people who support it, hahaha. Thank you for visiting and have a great time in London!
Hi Marta, thanks for stopping by.. Are you also new in Germany? You have a nice blog and you are developping a brilliant idea related to breakfast…I discovered the watermelon/feta combination last year and I was shocked to discover we can actually have it as a salad..But it’s apparently quite common in some countries such as Greece, Turkey, Lebanon..It’s so refreshing especially during summer…Nada- Fleur d’oranger, Masala & Co…

Yes, I’m new in Germany, but so far it’s great, I enjoy each day in Berlin. And thank you for a nice words 🙂
I think I would really like the sweetness of the watermelon with the saltiness of the feta. Different kind of dish for me, it looks so good.
-
thank you! I had it the first time on my friend’s party and I had to make it!
This looks SO good! I’ve never seen a watermelon with skin that dark before!
But I’m VERY intrigued by the combination of ingredients. It sounds tasty
-
thank you, actually it has an unique taste. Or maybe I think so, because I kind of thought that the watermelon looks like tomatoes, hahaha.
couldn´t possibly love your blog more! loved your visit and following you on facebook! do you have a GCF list?kisses
